When a customer adds a personalized product to their cart, Appify OPC generates a "proof" image — a flattened PNG showing the final customized product with all layers, text, and selected images exactly as they appeared in the preview. This proof serves as a visual record of what the customer ordered.
The proof image shows:
The proof image matches the preview the customer saw before adding to cart, so there are no surprises at fulfillment.
Proofs appear in two places for merchants:
Order details — When you view an order in your Shopify admin, the personalization proof appears as a line item property. Look for a property labeled Personalization Preview with a URL. Click the URL to open and download the proof image.
Cart — In the customer's cart (if they haven't checked out yet), the proof URL is visible as a line item property.
Merchants can download and save these proofs for reference, printing, or customer communication.
Customers see the proof in:
Cart — After adding a personalized product to cart, they can view the proof in their cart line items (if your theme displays line item properties).
Order confirmation — In their order confirmation email and account order history, the proof appears as a line item property.
This gives customers a clear record of what they ordered, helping with confirmation and support if they have questions.
The proof image is generated at the moment the customer clicks Add to Cart. It captures the exact state of the preview at that instant, including:
If the customer goes back and changes options after adding to cart, the proof remains unchanged for that cart item.
Proof images are stored temporarily and made available via a public URL. The URL is stable and works indefinitely — proofs are not deleted after a set time period.
You can download and save proofs at any time. If you want a permanent archive, save them to your own files or storage system.
Proofs are generated at standard screen resolution for quick processing and storage efficiency. They're designed to be clear enough for order verification and fulfillment communication, not for high-resolution printing. If you need a higher-quality image for printing, you may need to regenerate or re-create the design manually.
The proof URL is a direct link to the PNG file. It's a long, random string that's difficult to guess, making it private by default — only people who have the URL can access the proof. You can share the URL with customers for support or reprinting requests.
