Overview

Calculator AI includes a 14-day free trial, after which you activate a single subscription that includes all features. Your monthly price scales automatically based on your calculator usage — there are no plan tiers to choose between, no feature gates, and no revenue share. You manage your subscription from the Calculator AI → Subscription page.

How It Works

Free trial

  • Your trial begins when you install Calculator AI.
  • During the 14-day trial, all features are available.
  • No payment information is required to start.

Subscribing

You can activate your subscription at any time during or after the trial — you won't lose any remaining trial days. Subscribing early locks in uninterrupted access so your calculators keep working when the trial ends on day 14.

  1. Go to Calculator AI → Subscription (or click the plan banner on the Dashboard).
  2. Click Activate subscription.
  3. Confirm through Shopify's billing approval flow.

Your calculators and settings are preserved whether you subscribe during or after the trial — no data is lost.

Usage-based pricing

Your monthly price is determined by your usage — specifically, the total value of items added to cart through your calculators.

  1. Every subscriber gets access to all Calculator AI features. There are no feature-limited tiers.
  2. Your price is based on a rolling 60-day average of calculator cart value (expressed as a monthly equivalent). This smooths out spikes so a single busy day doesn't jump your pricing.
  3. Calculator AI matches your usage to a fixed monthly pricing tier. If your usage grows, your tier moves up at the next billing cycle. If your usage drops, your tier can move down too.
  4. The How pricing scales section on the Subscription page shows your current rolling 60-day cart value, your current tier, and how close you are to the next tier.

Billing

All billing is handled through Shopify's standard app billing system. Your invoice includes:

  • Base charge — Your fixed monthly tier price based on calculator cart value.
  • AI usage charge — Every subscription includes $2.50 of free AI usage each month. You only pay for AI credit consumption beyond that amount. AI credits are used by the AI Builder, Pricing Assistant, Translation, and AI Styles features. Any overage appears as an additional line item on your Shopify invoice.

Both charges appear on your regular Shopify invoice.

Rolling 60-day average Usage is smoothed over the last 60 days to prevent sudden tier jumps from short-term spikes.
Fixed monthly tiers Your monthly price is a fixed dollar amount based on which usage range you fall into. No percentage of sales.
Automatic tier changes Your tier adjusts automatically based on usage. No manual upgrade or downgrade needed. Changes apply at the next billing cycle.
AI usage charges Every subscription includes $2.50/month of free AI usage. Only usage beyond that amount is billed as a separate charge.
